"Who is a good dentist in Marousi?", "Where can I eat fish in Piraeus?", "Which company builds e-shops in Athens?". Customers no longer ask these questions only on Google. They ask ChatGPT, Gemini and the AI answers that Google itself shows above the search results.
AI doesn't show ten links. It recommends two or three names. If you are not among them, you don't exist for that customer.
Where AI tools get their information
- From web search: ChatGPT and Gemini search in real time, through search engines like Bing and Google.
- From your website, if it is fast, clean and lets AI crawlers in.
- From mentions on other sites: directories, articles, reviews, "the best…" lists.
- From your Google Business Profile and your reviews.
8 things you can do
1. Say clearly what you do and where
Your homepage should say in one sentence: what you do, for whom, and in which area. "Dental clinic in Marousi offering implants and orthodontics" helps far more than "Your smile is our priority".
2. Answer your customers' questions
A page of frequently asked questions (prices, opening hours, how you work, how long it takes) is the most useful thing for an AI, because it can take a ready-made answer from it.
3. Show prices or a price range
When someone asks "how much does… cost", AI prefers sources that give numbers. Even "from €50" is better than nothing.
4. Schema markup
Structured data (schema) tells search engines with certainty: this is a business, here is the address, the phone number, the reviews, the services. It is invisible to visitors but very important for AI.
5. Don't lock out AI crawlers
Some sites, often without knowing it, block the bots of OpenAI, Google or Perplexity through robots.txt or a firewall. If AI can't read your site, it will recommend someone else.
6. Bing Webmaster Tools
ChatGPT relies heavily on Bing for search. Many Greek businesses have never submitted their site there. It is free and takes a few minutes.
7. Google Business Profile and reviews
Fill in every field, add categories, services, opening hours and photos, and ask happy customers for a review. Reviews that describe what happened ("they built my e-shop in 10 days") help more than a plain "excellent".
8. Get mentioned elsewhere
Interviews, articles on local sites, partnerships, industry directories. The more trustworthy sources mention your name together with what you do, the more likely AI is to recommend you.
How to check whether it recommends you
Open ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity and ask the way a customer would: "Who should I hire for [service] in [area]?". Try 5-10 variations. Note who shows up and why: what do they have on their site that you don't?
We can do it together
We run a free visibility check on ChatGPT and Gemini and send you the first steps for your business. And every website we build is set up from the start so AI tools can read it properly.
