Why your website needs maintenance
A WordPress website isn't a brochure you print once. It has the WordPress core, a theme, usually 15 to 30 plugins and a database, and all of them release updates every few weeks. Most updates close security holes. If they're left unpatched for months, the site becomes an easy target for automated attacks that scan thousands of sites a day.
The opposite mistake is also common: someone clicks "update all" on a Friday evening, a plugin clashes with Elementor and the homepage goes blank. The website maintenance we do means updates are applied in order, with a backup before every change and a check afterwards, so if something goes wrong we can roll back within minutes.
There's also the cost of doing nothing. An infected site can be flagged by Google as dangerous, so visitors see a red warning instead of your page. An e-shop that goes down on Saturday loses orders until Monday. Cleanup and recovery after an incident like that usually cost more than a whole year of maintenance, and they don't bring back the lost sales. Monthly maintenance is essentially a small, fixed fee that protects you from a large, unpredictable cost.
- Less risk from hacks, malware and spam
- The site stays fast, which also matters to Google
- If something breaks, there's a backup and a person to fix it
WordPress updates without surprises
Every month we apply WordPress, theme and plugin updates. Before every round we take a full backup. Major updates, such as a new version of WooCommerce or Elementor, we test first on a copy of the site, because that's where compatibility problems usually show up.
After updating, we check the main pages, the contact forms and, on e-shops, the whole path through to checkout. If a plugin is no longer supported by its developer, we tell you and suggest a replacement before it becomes a problem.
WordPress security and backups you can trust
WordPress security isn't a plugin. It's many small things together: strong passwords and two-step login for administrators, a limit on failed login attempts, a firewall, malware file scanning, spam protection for forms and an SSL certificate that renews itself. We set all of it up and monitor it.
Backups are taken daily and stored off the server, so even if the server has a problem, your site can be restored. We keep backups going back several weeks, because a problem is often discovered days after it happened. And we test them: if a backup has never been restored, you don't know whether it works.
- Daily off-server backups
- Firewall, malware scanning and login limits
- Uptime monitoring with an alert if the site goes down
- Cleanup and restore if something happens, at no extra charge on the Pro and Premium plans
Fast web hosting, included in the subscription
Web hosting is included in every maintenance plan. We host sites on servers with SSD, up-to-date PHP and caching, so pages load quickly for visitors from Greece. You don't need a separate account with a hosting company, or to work out who's to blame when something doesn't work.
If you already have hosting elsewhere, we can either move the site to us without downtime or maintain it where it is. The same goes for your business email: we move it or connect it to Google Workspace if you prefer.
Website management: changes without hunting for a developer
Most of the time, what an owner needs isn't anything big. A doctor wants to change the August opening hours. A hotel wants new room photos. A cosmetics e-shop wants a banner for the weekend sale. Every maintenance plan includes hours for changes like these: you send us an email or a WhatsApp message and we do it, usually within one or two business days.
Website management also covers the things you don't see: checking for broken links, cleaning the database, monitoring Google Search Console for errors and renewing the domain before it expires. Every month we send you a short report of what was done.
Maintenance for sites we didn't build
We also take on maintenance for WordPress websites built by someone else, even if the original developer no longer responds. We start with an audit: which WordPress version it runs, which plugins are installed, whether any are outdated or abandoned, and whether the site is already infected. We tell you what we found and what's needed before it moves to a monthly plan.
