The challenge
A website for a volunteer association has to inform first of all. People need to see when and where the next blood drive takes place, and association members need to update this easily every month, without waiting for a developer.
The second issue is trust. Someone thinking about giving blood for the first time, or signing up as a bone marrow donor, has questions and fears. They need clear, reliable answers organised by topic, and an easy place to sign up as a volunteer, partner organisation or sponsor.
What we built
We built the site in WordPress with Elementor Pro and organised the menu around the association's four activities: voluntary blood donation, bone marrow donation, cord blood donation and organ donation. Each section has its own pages, such as "Your first time", "Blood donation tips", "Medical requirements", "Tissue compatibility", "Organ donor card" and "Myths and facts", plus its own article category.
The homepage automatically shows upcoming blood drives, with the location (for example the Loggia atrium in Heraklion), dates and times. The association posts each new blood drive as an entry and it appears on its own in the right place. The same goes for articles, which are grouped by topic.
We added a sign-up form for the blood donor webinar, a contact form, "Join the effort" pages for volunteers, blood donors, partner organisations and sponsors, and a supporters page. The header keeps the association's phone, email and social links visible.
