The challenge
An olive oil e-shop run by a producer has different needs from a large food store. The customer wants to know where the oil comes from, when the olives were picked and why it is worth more than the supermarket brand. At the same time, they need to find the pack size they want quickly, from a 100ml tasting bottle to a 5-litre tin.
Gerakina does not sell only oil. The catalogue includes wines from a family winery in Nemea and Kalamata and Manaki olives, and beyond retail there is interest from restaurants, shops and buyers abroad. The site had to serve both the customer buying two bottles and the business asking for a wholesale price, in Greek and English.
What we built
We built the e-shop on WordPress with WooCommerce, Elementor Pro and WooLentor Pro for the product pages and listings. The Products mega menu splits the catalogue into olive oil, wines and olives, and shows each pack size separately: the Premium Manaki range in 100, 500 and 750ml, glass and plastic bottles up to 2 litres, and the 5-litre metal tin. On the homepage every product has a price and an add-to-cart button.
The Pothos and Cataleya wines, together with the Petroinos trilogy, have their own section. The About Us page and the blog explain same-day cold extraction and the harvest, which runs from mid-October to early December, and there is a gallery from the olive groves.
For wholesale we built a For Businesses page with its own form. Customers can register and see their orders from their account. The English version was set up with Polylang, and we wrote the terms of sale, privacy policy and cookie policy.
