The challenge
A website for a medical practice in Heraklion has to do two things at once. First, give patients the practical details: where the practice is, what hours it is open, whether it is contracted with EOPYY (Greece's national health insurer) and which number to call for an appointment. Then explain what a general family doctor actually does, because many people don't know when to see one.
When a doctor has significant academic work, such as a master's in public health, a PhD, postdoctoral research and publications, it needs to be shown in an organised way, without tiring the patient who just came to find the phone number.
What we built
We built the site on WordPress with Elementor Pro. The homepage opens with the doctor's titles and the fact that she is a personal doctor contracted with EOPYY, continues with a short text on the practice's philosophy and answers "when and why to see a general family doctor". Then comes a box with the address at 63 Knossos Avenue, opening hours and the appointment phone number.
The "About" menu splits the CV into separate pages: Master of Public Health, doctoral thesis, postdoctoral work, publications and conferences, volunteering. The "Practice" menu organises the services into prevention and counselling, early diagnosis and management, family health by age and sex, and public health and epidemiology.
We added an articles section on topics such as psoriatic arthritis, cancer screening and prevention in adolescence, which bring visitors from Google. The footer has the landline and mobile with click-to-call, email and social links, and a banner pointing to the voluntary blood donors' association "Aimatokritis", whose site we also built.
