"How much does an e-shop cost?" is the first question almost every client asks. The honest answer is that it depends on a few specific things, and if you know them in advance, you can compare quotes properly.
What sets the price
- How many products and who enters them: you, us, or automatically from a file.
- Where they come from: your own products, or a supplier's products with an XML file that updates prices and stock.
- Integrations: card payments, couriers, Skroutz (Greece's largest price-comparison site and marketplace), myDATA (the Greek tax authority's e-invoicing platform), inventory software or ERP.
- Languages and shipping abroad.
- Special features: wholesale prices, configurable products, subscriptions, bookings.
Prices by type of store
Small e-shop (up to 50 products)
For a store with a few products of your own, such as handmade goods, cosmetics or local food. At WebDragon it costs from 700€ +VAT, with 50 products entered, card payments, courier and a Skroutz feed, and it is delivered in 10 working days.
E-shop with hundreds of products
Here the cost goes up mainly because of entering and organising the products: categories, filters, size and colour variations. If there is an Excel file with the details, products can be imported in bulk and at low cost.
E-shop with supplier XML feeds
When you sell products from wholesalers, thousands of items come in and update automatically. Connecting each supplier costs from 150€ and saves you from endless manual work.
B2B and wholesale
Separate prices for trade customers, account approval, minimum order. It is usually added to the main e-shop at a small extra cost, not built as a separate site.
What you pay every year
- Domain and hosting: free for the first year, then about 100€ +VAT per year.
- Payment fees: a small percentage per card transaction, with no fixed fee at most providers.
- Maintenance (optional): updates, backups, checkout checks, from 50€ per month.
- Invoicing software for myDATA, if you don't already have it.
Where the extras hide
Ask for these in writing up front: who enters the products, how many rounds of changes are included, whether there are monthly plugin licences, and who holds the passwords. Most "cheap" e-shops become expensive at exactly these points.
Work out your own
In the cost calculator you choose an e-shop, supplier XML feeds and languages and see the price straight away. See also e-shop prices in detail, or what you need to open an e-shop in terms of tax registration and payments.
